McCandless Bus Center is proud to supply Peak to Peak Charter school with its full fleet of electric buses, making them the first school in Colorado to have an all-electric school bus fleet. McCandless Bus Center and IC employees joined in the official unveiling this past Thursday. Thanks to this partnership Peak to Peak now has four new electric buses; McCandless Bus Center will be delivering the last Type A bus on Monday, October 31st.

Governor Jared Polis spoke at the event and praised Peak to Peak’s initiative toward clean energy. Under Polis’s leadership, Colorado has enacted bill SB22-193, a clean air grant program where the Colorado energy office will award grants to various private and public entities to reduce air pollutants from industrial and manufacturing operations. This bill is allocating $65 million toward electric school buses.

Before 2020, Peak to Peak used Boulder Valley School buses. With the ongoing school bus driver shortage, BVSD had to make some difficult decisions and adjust to the bus driver shortage, meaning Peak to Peak could no longer rent buses for field trips, athletic events, and other student extracurricular activities. Sam Todd, the Executive Director of Operations at Peak to Peak Charter School had to look at more viable and affordable solutions to solve their transportation issue.

We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Peak to Peak Charter School and take this huge step toward carbon neutrality!
