Brake Safety Week is here! Are you prepared?
Today marks day one of Brake Safety Week, a safety initiative where CVSA-certified enforcement personnel will be conducting roadside inspections to identify commercial motor vehicles with critical brake violations.
This annual brake inspection event held by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance has a specific focus, with this year being brake hoses and tubing. Brake hoses and tubing must be found properly attached, appropriately flexible, and undamaged, without leaks. Now through September 21st, those CMVs found with critical brake violations, or other critical vehicle inspection item conditions, will be prevented from traveling until the violations have been corrected.
While brake safety is important year-round, this initiative aims to reduce the number of crashes caused or made more severe by faulty brake systems by removing those commercial motor vehicles with dangerous brake conditions from our roadways. Routine brake system inspections and component replacement are vital to the safety of all commercial vehicles.
Outreach and awareness efforts by law enforcement agencies to educate drivers, motor carriers, mechanics, owner-operators and others on the importance of proper brake maintenance, operation and performance continue to support the success of this safety week as well.
Please contact our McCandless Truck Center parts and service departments if we can assist you with brake parts or services. Take advantage of special pricing on front steer axle brake jobs, drive axle brake jobs, and trailer axle brake jobs through September 30th. Plus, savings on brake shoe kits, brake drums, brake chambers and more!
