Earlier this month, tragedy struck on Highway 6 in Mesa County when two Colorado Department of Transportation employees were fatally struck by a passing vehicle while they were repairing a roadside sign. The victims were identified as 23-year-old Nathan Jones and 43-year-old Trenton Umberger, both CDOT workers from Grand Junction, as well as 67-year-old Kathi Wallace of Mesa County.  Wallace was a passenger inside the vehicle.  Additional details about the tragic accident can be found here

We are all heartbroken by this devastating loss and our thoughts are with the victims' families, the Colorado Department of Transportation, and the affected communities.

As community outpour has continued to grow, Cornhole Etc in Grand Junction announced a fundraiser to support the families of the victims. The event, scheduled for Sunday, September 29th at 2757 Highway 50 in Grand Junction, will feature a cornhole tournament, car show, and silent auction, beginning at 10 a.m.

Cornhole registration can be completed on scoreholio, or doors will open at 9 am on the 29th for in-person registration.  It is a $30 entry per person.  The tournament will start as close to 11 as possible. The car show begins at 10am with a $20 entry per vehicle.

We invite you to join the community and spend a day playing cornhole, showing off your ride, bidding on amazing silent auction items, and supporting these local families.

McCandless Truck Center donated a number of baskets for the silent auction. Be sure to check out the great products available and bid on a basket to help support this great cause.
