Uptime Academy Graduate from McCandless Truck Center
McCandless Truck Centers proudly announces Jonathan as our first graduate of the International® Truck and IC Bus® Uptime Academy apprenticeship program. Navistar implemented its Uptime Academy program two years ago to offer aspiring technicians paid, hands-on training in a real-world setting. This 12-month technician apprenticeship program rotates students between the dealership shop floor and the classroom to foster continuous learning and application.
McCandless Truck Center found interest in the design of Uptime Academy and participated in the program as it provided us with another outlet to directly invest in the overall development of an integral part of our dealership team. Investing in technician training is not only our job as an employer, but it demonstrates our dedication to providing our employees with every opportunity to learn and apply themselves to build highly successful careers.
Throughout the past year, Jonathan invested over 800 hours completing proprietary training while McCandless Truck Centers paid for all his travel, wages, tuition, and tooling. He rotated approximately every two weeks between our Aurora, CO, shop floor and the factory training facility. When Jonathan was in the dealership, he worked closely with one of our current McCandless Truck Center technicians, who served as a valuable mentor and resource. Jonathan gained firsthand knowledge of different components and various vehicle types, providing him with a robust and valuable skill set. The balance of classroom learning and real-world experience prepared him to hit the ground running.
Jonathan graduates from the program with every certification Navistar currently provides for professional technicians, and he is now trained to be able to complete any repair on an International truck. We’re proud to say that Jonathan is competent, and we’re pleased to help him build his career in this ever-growing industry. We remain committed to Jonathan’s success as a technician serving our customers and our industry and appreciate his willingness to learn and grow through the program. We are grateful for the support and resources Uptime Academy provides along the way.
We are always looking for aspiring technicians who have the desire to expand their knowledge and empower their careers.
