In this edition:

1. Fuel Additive Use during cold weather conditions - learn which additives to use when the temps drop below 32 degrees. Contact our parts department to place your order to prepare for the upcoming seasons. 

2. How to make a cold weather survival kit - something everyone should carry because it could save lives in emergency situations.  Read the full edition for a helpful "Before you Go" checklist. 

Here is what you need:

  • a shovel
  • windshield scraper and small broom
  • flashlight with extra batteries
  • battery powered radio
  • water
  • snack food including energy bars
  • raisins and mini candy bars
  • matches and small candles
  • disposable Hand/Foot warmers
  • extra hats, socks and mittens
  • first aid kit with pocket knife
  • necessary medications
  • blankets or sleeping bag
  • tow chain or rope
  • road salt, sand, or cat litter for traction
  • booster cables
  • fluorescent distress flag and whistle to attract attention
  • Cell phone adapter to plug into lighter and extra battery supply

3. October 7th - 13th is Fire Prevention Week - it's a great time to review how to prevent and react to fires in CMVs with your drivers.  Fire extinguisher inspection is a vital part of the daily inspection process. Read the entire edition for a fire safety checklist. 

4.  FMCSA Extends HOS public comment period to 10/21 - You now have an additional 2 weeks to submit comments at regulations.gov by accessing Docket Number FMCSA-2018-0248.
